The independent children’s hairdressing brand, Little BigHeads, is taking two new steps by not only opening its doors in Altrincham, but embarking on a new retail venture by selling children’s shoes.
The brand, owned by Cheshire resident Sharon Dobson, already has thriving shops in Wilmslow and Bramhall, and is now expanding into another South-Cheshire family hot-spot due to continued demand.
Sharon said: “The idea at Little BigHeads is for children and their grown-ups alike to look upon a visit to the hairdressers as a fun overall experience, rather than a chore. Since the beginning, we have had such great feedback from families across Cheshire and a widespread loyal following, so it’s just a natural step for us to keep adding to our locations.”
The new shop located on Manchester Road has also created five new jobs.
“As the business has grown, we were noticing our days were so jam-packed with bookings, we continually had to turn people away, something we hated to do. So, the next shop couldn’t open soon enough!
“Our new shop brings with it a team of five, a mix of new and existing team members, all being overseen by a Manager who has already been with us for the past five years.”
The brand to date has only ever been known as a children’s hair salon, but with a new location, also comes a new retail offering.
Sharon continued: "I wanted to create a less stressful way of shopping for children's shoes, without compromising on an expert fitting service. The bones in a child's foot are not fully formed until they are 18 years old, so it is essential that shoes fit correctly, otherwise there can be problems in later life. In each of our stores you will find an expert shoe fitter, and we are also members of the Society of Shoe Fitters, an organisation committed to children's foot health.”
In line with its target age range of haircuts, Little Bigheads offers shoes for children between the ages of 0-11, and offers a mix of first shoes, school shoes, everyday shoes and casual styles, including boots and wellingtons.
Sharon said: "I am so excited about bringing independent brands from all over the world to Cheshire. Our shoes are hand-picked for their style and quality, and we will be adding new brands to our range in line with customer feedback. We've launched this new venture in Altrincham first, but we will be expanding shoes into our other two shops later in the year.
“I’m so pleased to now be open in Altrincham, it has always been part of my plan. We quickly noticed that many of our customers were making the journey over and it made complete sense to open a shop here.”
Little BigHeads is now open for business, but will be celebrating its launch in style on Friday 30th June from 2pm onwards and invites all families to attend.
Sharon ended: “Our team at Little BigHeads can’t wait to meet the families of Altrincham and beyond, so we would like to invite them all to our launch event. You can expect balloons, cakes, juice (and fizz of course!) goodie bags, and a prize draw - to win free haircuts for a year! Parents can ensure their little ones are having fun whilst they take home some useful advice on their children’s feet and hair.
“We are hosting informal talks on foot health, haircut anxiety and free tutorials on hair braiding, for those of you who have always wanted to learn how to do perfect braids, and some tips on basic hair skills, such as putting in ponytails and using hair clips – perfect for dads! We hope to see you all there!”
Little BigHeads is based at 74 Manchester Rd, Altrincham, WA14 4PJ. Altrincham telephone number is 0161 941 4033 and their website: www.littlebigheads.co.uk
